    Exhaust sound

I've had several members comment on the board that my exhaust combo (Stillen DP/no cats/stock cat-back) yields the best sound a 3S can make.

True or not - I have no idea whatsoever - I don't find the exhaust note particularly stimulating...it's pretty generic and non-distinctive.

I've had a fondness for the sound of every other fast car I've ever owned - but not this one.

Any one else feel that way?

I’ve always been a fan of the Stillen DP, no cats and either the Borla cat-back or the Tanabe exhausts. That of course includes the Concept G-Blue and the Touring Medallion. That’s my cup of tea!

I own a tanabe knockoff but never heard it funny enough. The apexi style single shot honestly is crap and worse that EVERYONE runs it. Stock TT catback has a nice growl to it and not obnoxious, and sounds even better on an NA funny enough. The aeroturbine exhaust I have is my favorite of all I heard with stock style exhaust manifolds. Everything is different when you have long tube manifolds like Ray or single turbo, so I haven't heard anything other than his setup. I'm sure you can hear my car in some old NG vids previous to Philly, but videos suck for listening to exhausts.

No name DP, no cat, Tanabe Hyper Medallion produced a great sound, would set off alarms. Have that on my 92 VR4, which is still on jack stands. My 97 VR4 just has gutted precats with stock exhaust. Very quiet with a low rumble.

I take that back, Doug has the tanabe knockoff exhaust (catless). Too loud and drones a bit. Full disclosure, I'm told my aeroturbine exhaust was epic loud to people following me also, but when I changed engines it got quieter for some unknown reason.

Sorry, Kev, but whoever told you that is lying. The best exhaust note on a 3/s--BY FAR--is the Superdragger. If you can even find one. It's incredibly throaty.

Well, like I said, what do I know?

Never heard anyone leaning on another 3S hard enough to tell...I'm prolly the most 3S-ignorant 3S owner on the planet.

FWIW, the best sound I've ever noted coming from a 3S was Dave's (TT4ME) video of his car idling in his warehouse right off the waste-gates.

I think the superdrager I heard bitd (I think it was SEDD 09) was FearPB's, if memory serves. No idea if the canisters HKS currently sells will make a similar sound if put with custom piping.

I had the Stillen DP, gutted precats, and the Super Drager. I liked it when driving it, but it sounded even better to outsiders as I drove by... On the few occasions someone else was driving my car, it sounded amazing. That being said, before the SD I had gutted precats and Stillen DP with the stock exhaust, and I thought it sounded good that way too.

The guy who bought my car also got all my stock pieces, including the original working active exhaust and stock downpipe. He wanted to take it back to stock except for turbos and tuning, and he did... but then put the Stillen/SD back on, said he couldn't go back to stock sound after hearing how much better it sounded.
