Hmm, would make sense.
So there may be a fault with the knock sensor circuit hence the default knock, but where would the fault be to cause a flat line 5 degree timing?

Just found this on another thread so I will look at the knock sensor more:
according to my logs it's more like this:

<5* timing advances
5-7* timing flatlines
8*+ timing retards

If it were a faulty sensor, I understand it could be intermittent, but at the same point in a third gear pull after 6 logs?

BTW, you guys were spot on correct, removed the new knock sensor and put the original one back in, problem gone.
Still have a few counts around the 120/140 load at 3500rpm so have been smoothing out the tables as suggested.
