And my inexperience came through tonight. My cousin was at the garage so I ran up and we bolted it to the car. Started closing it and saw it looked good, but needed a little fender adjustment. He went to lift the hood back up and we heard a pop.

The passenger hinge was a little stiff so it flexed and popped part of the repair on that side. After thinking about it I didn't put much glass on that side and it was mostly just resin holding it together. Hindsight it 20/20 though.

I'll pull the hood back off (hopefully tomorrow). I'll then sand the paint back off of that area to expose the repaired area, then vee out the original crack, apply some mat and more resin and finish the repair back up. I'm off work on Friday and hoping to get a lot accomplished but am getting some art work done on my arm on Thursday so we'll see how it feels and how well I can protect it to do some work on Friday.

EDIT: I think I am also going to dig out another set of hinges and swap them out too. LOL

No, no struts on it whatsoever. The hinge was definitely stiff. I didn't really think it would cause an issue, but being my repair wasn't super sturdy on that side, coupled with the stiff hinge is what caused my issue.

Ryan at Cianci wasn't smart enough to make his hoods have the necessary adaption of mounts for struts, but I was.
If you are interested, I can try to dig up my post on how I did it, with 3SX low pressure struts.
I got sick of the broom handle...

    Bob.

What did you do with the broom handle, Bob?

    You retired it, didn't you?

    DIDN'T YOU?!?!?

I appreciate it Bob, but I have an idea for how to hold the hood up in a non-intrusive way. I still have my broom handle until then.

Its been a month since the last update. I've hit roadblocks, both mental, and flat out not being able to get to the car, but I have gotten a few more things done.

After the last issue with my repair breaking I did another repair by veeing out out the crack and applying several layers of glass to build up the area

    After some work and sanding.

    Another layer of resin

I didn't get back to it the following weekend, but I worked it some more last weekend.

I actually worked both sides to try to make them both better

I sanded the entire underside to prep it up for a coat of paint for a finished look for now

It was way too hot to spray any paint last weekend so I let it sit til this weekend. Had no motivation yesterday, but got up at a decent time this morning and got a good start on it

After the paint dried up I got a second set of hands and we put the hood on the car. I started on the top side repair and got it looking half way decent.

It still needs a little work, but its close.

Unfortunately I cracked the damn thing again on the underside (this time on the drivers side) when I lost a my grip on the hood and I kind of bounced it. Its not terrible, and I think I am just going to fix it while its on the car by doing what I did on the passenger side when it recracked.

Lastly, I actually took the car home. I think I can get more done with it at my house, even though I don't have a garage, just because I can actually putz with it after work on days I'm home in the evening. I need to do a few things to the interior, but I do plan on getting it road legal, if not this week, then over the weekend.

Well the car is officially in my name, has insurance, and plates. I need to sort a few things then I'll get an inspection sticker and start driving it a little.

Any chance this BLUE Bastard will be BLUE before the end of the year?

Proud of you Brian, I know how hard you work (not on the car), and how hard you have worked on THIS car....

Can't wait to see the final product..

    Bob.
