No NG-17 so going to MVP TRACK TIME at Autobahn August 7th

Well it is sad NG17 didn't happen and the people running renting Gingerman Raceway haven't contacted me for an invitation to join them. So, I looked up the MVPTrackTime dot com events. They have open invitations for experienced drivers to novices to run on the Autobahn Road Course in Joliet, Illinois on Monday August 7th. Cost is $255 for 4 to 6 20 minute runs (3 groups: novice, intermediate, advanced). You can get a Sunday night local hotel room for $95. Tech is 3pm at hotel on Sunday 8/6 or 6am 8/7. No tech. No run. Same rules apply as NG for helmets and clothing. Their website has all details. I signed up two days ago and it was not sold out. This is a great opportunity to get your road course fix on a 3.5 mile track for those willing to drive to the Chicago area. Of course, I still want to go to Gingerman. I have two nights booked in South Haven so the wife can go to the beach while I drive (or just chill with her if no driving occurs).

Did you email or call Paul at Mohawk for running Gingerman on the 15th and 16th? I have both his email and phone number if you don't have it already. I don't know if there is any individual spaces left but since the cancellation of the NG he might fit you in.

The contact information for the gingerman event should have been in your NG registration email.

If you signed up/paid with them you should be all set.

Anyone that wants to go can still signup if there is room https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mohawk-...ts-28767213510

Alan, Thanks for posting the link. I went to their website and they had a 3S NG registration tab with a discounted entry fee. I am all set for Tuesday August 15th on the Gingerman track. Two road courses a week apart!

Attended an MVP Track Time driving event at the Autobahn track in Joliet, Illinois on Monday. Around 50 drivers in the group. Mostly 40-50 in age but a good showing of those in their 30s. Not many 20 somethings. Event was well run and organized and divided into three run groups: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced. Most cars were BMWs, Porsches, Mustangs, Camaros, Vipers, Corvettes, a souped up Miata, a GTR, Cobra, McLaren (not sure) a Mercury Cougar and some others. There was one other 3000GT besides mine. The brackets got 20 minutes on the track for each run. Each bracket got 6 runs. Not bad for $150. Since I was new to the track I was in the novice group which was fine. After the drivers meeting I rode with an experienced driver in his BMW and got insight on the track. My first driving run I had another instructor ride along giving me instruction on how to enter and exit each of the 17 curves on the 3.5 mile track. I basically had a double lesson.

People came to drive their cars and that was their only expectation. There were no trophies at the end of the day and people tended to stay in their groups. It is not a social event like the NG, but that was fine. I got to push my car to its' limit and my current driving ability. Of course now I want to get track tires, upgrade my suspension and increase my horsepower. It is so addicting. Thinking of Road America with them in November.

That sounds like a really good event. Track driving is really addictive, I started with a stock car ten years ago and I'm still changing parts on the car to go faster on the track =)
