They are. My car just idles so low. I'll look at the tac and it will be at 500 rpm but it's steady and stays there and idles perfect just low.

If you go through the base idle set procedure the car will be happier and easier to drive.

Thank you. Yep, I'm actually going to do that latter today. I'm leaving tomorrow amd going see if the Vr4 can make it from Michigan to Arizona. Wish me luck lol.

Original oil pump from 1998 160k miles. Amsoil 10w40 HP-2007 oil filter (from a 90s zr1 vette) taken from a sandwich plate on the filter housing.
This is very interesting. I am curious now what the pressure drop is at temperature (full flow through the Oil cooler) between the pump and the stock location (main oil galley). It has been YEARS since I have had to do anything with Bernoulli's equation or Reynolds numbers or anything like that, but it would almost seem that I may be seeing a 30 to 40% pressure loss between the pump and the mains if all of these numbers are right. It would definitely help to explain a few observations I have had 'though. Has anyone ever plotted the difference in pressure between a sandwich plate adapter and the stock oil sensor location on a VR4?

The oil does have to make a 180 degree turn to enter the block gallery through a very crappy casting at the stock sender location.

Stock sensing location, Autometer mechanical gauge, .002" rod and main clearances (dial bore gauge/micrometer measurements), AMSOIL 20W50 racing oil. WOT oil pressure at 4000 rpm is 70-75 psi and any rpm above 4750, pressure is stable at 85psi. Oil pressure above about 4500 rpm should be a function of the oil pressure relief spring. Original design is for relief to be fully open by 4750rpm and maintain max oil pressure of 85psi. Based on 10psi/1000rpm being the nominal oil pressure required to prevent failure, the 85 psi is good for 8500 rpm.
