Good choice on the Platinum! Post up some pics!
I had a 2016 F-150 Lariat as a rental not too long ago. Very nice truck. After having that 3.5 Ecoboost for a week I was pretty sold on it. Although it oddly sounds like a V8 when you really get into the throttle.

I am really enjoying the truck. I already have 10k miles on it (drove to Texas and back) plus my normal commute. It has a lot of power and gets great gas mileage for being a truck. We have used it for hauling, moving, donating stuff, got our couches with it, etc. Just an all around perfect vehicle for us.

Any chance you have tried to tow with it, with a trailer with brakes? My truck has been in the shop 5 times now as they can't figure out why the brake controller in my 2015 is not working with my 20' car hauler with single axle electric brakes. It is not sensing the trailer is hooked up at all, brake wise. Lights all work. If I switch the controller over the electric over hydraulic then I have partial brakes. We have calls in with Ford engineers to try and figure out the problem. Trailer uses the simplest form of brakes, Magnetic drum brakes.... Ford controllers just don't like them for some reason.

I assume you've read all the threads online about this problem? It's a common problem... First suggestion on all of them is to clean the connectors on the trailer and use deoxit (or your favorite electrical cleaner/protectant)

Does your trailer work on other Ford trucks at the dealer?

Yeah, I have a thread going on the f150 forums about it - http://www.f150forum.com/f118/traile...oblems-316625/

The trailer has a brand new 7 pin connector and junction box. I replaced it all when Ford first started telling me it was a wiring issues on the trailer. They then replaced the truck connector. I have confirmed continuity between the truck and trailer is fine. The issue is software related to the brake controller itself. it is not an electrical issue. The controller uses some sort of load sensing to tell if a trailer is connected before it will function. for some reason it is out os spec with my trailer.

They tested my trailer on a brand new 2015 and 2016 and on both trucks the trailer only worked on Elc over Hydraulic modes. I can hook my Tekonsha controller up and it works just fine.

I don't have a trailer with brakes on it. I have a boat trailer so I haven't tried it yet. I believe you will need to modify the gain on the controller if you're using electric over hydralic if you haven't tried that.

I have it maxed at 10 on EOH but that only puts out 6 volts at full lock to the brakes which is pretty much half power.

My 2014 f-350 works with all 3 of my trailers, must be an F-150 only thing.
