Adding a second group to the event would be great. And having it be our new Nissan siblings would IMO be perfect.

Please talk to them about Drag Racing as we might have to change how we've been running the event and go back to renting a track if they will add significant numbers.

Looking forward we'll need some people that can help with both Drag Race and autocross classing.
I appreciate the update, I will let them know that it is too early for the 2017 race calendars to be out yet. To get the most participation from this group it would be all generations of Z cars though, not just Z32's. The upside is that you get both vintage and new cars at the event, which I think will be great from an overall event experience perspective. And if we don't have enough Z32 cars participating to do the 90's car showdown like what was originally discussed that doesn't mean we can't do a brand competition anyway.

We will need their help in classing the Auto-X, Drag Races, and Car Show. As with our cars, the Z-Cars will have specific categories that are meaningful to their owners that we probably don't know about.

I will send a note letting them know that if the interest is high enough that we would look at renting the drag strip outright. Hopefully they will have some decent info on participation interest in the next couple weeks between the club meeting and the online poll they plan to run.

I think the description of "help" should be a little clearer.

Like maybe specify more about the time needed, the tasks that need performed and the best geographic location to be as a helper.

Since the event is usually in the northern parts of the US, it'd be more beneficial for somebody to be in that area.

I didn't have enough money to tie up his or his dynos time and he wondered why I wanted to sink my money in such a vehicle. Buschr has a very bad condescending attitude about the 3S platform. I am not surprised that he doesn't want our group to join up with his event. He's an egotistical prick. The event might be fun in ways as a spectator or if you show up in one of the preferred cars, but I really can't see a marriage of the NG and the DSM Shootout.
Yes "Buschur" is abrasive but takes no issue with 3S's joining the fun as evidenced by my car and 6 other 3Ss, that I can think of, allowed to participate.

The Shootout is a massive drag event.

Drags is just one part of the NG. Logistically there is no was we would be able to hold the rest of the event and have drags work with the shootouts schedule.

Yes and it's also a big car show and autocross. This year the autocross course was a 80-90 sec run.

Not saying it has to be the new NG, but there are a lot of components already there and is one of the largest Mitsu events in the world. Supposedly is the largest GTR racing event. (GTR seems to fit more with 3S than Z's since awd, technology packed, etc. and DSM/EVO definitely makes more sense to me.)

There has been less and less focus on the drag portion at NG and numbers keep falling. Chicken or egg? I don't know.

Maybe Buschur tells us to F'off anyway. He certainly wouldn't change the event for us, but there already is a lot of opportunity to participate within the existing schedule of events.

It was also not that expensive. Maybe $150 for me, my wife and youngest son for the whole weekend for racing and entry.

I've been twice now. Will be there again next year and my non-mitsu (non-drag racing) buddy that comes is already talking about planning for next year. It's a fantastic event with an insane amount of mitsu car porn. (Also has plenty of evening shenanigans at some of the hotels for those that come to car events for the drinking.)

That's my 2 cents (maybe 3). I'll not mention it further.

I would say the Shootout is definitely a good time, but I don't see it being a fit for the 3s NG. It would be nice to see more 3s's there, and hell it would be nice for me to drive mine there, even without running it, cause lets face it, I am not going to run a 15 second 3s, even though there was a mid 16 3s running there this year. LOL

I wouldn't object to organizing some kind of gathering at the Shootout, but not the NG.
