Safe boost levels for 15G turbos, stock map.

I am finished with the break-in period of my rebuilt motor and currently running only wastegate 6psi boost.

I have a chrome ECU from Adam with his MAF, 550cc injectors, and an old HKS fuel pump.

How much boost can I safely run without changing any map settings? I'd like to be around factory like power levels for now. A little more is fine, just something more than I have now that would be fairly conservative.

You can run as much boost as knock will allow is the only answer. Log, and find the threshold, back off some, and you are good.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

I replaced my knock sensor during the build. My only concern, is that these cars are getting so old....I hope the frail wiring is holding up and the sensor is logging correctly.

Is there an expected ceiling where knock might start? I'm guessing around 14psi? I only have 91 fuel available to me and E85 is a bit much for these injectors although we do have an awesome blender station near me.

I would only tune with what you can reliably get for the car fuel wise. Too many factors to guess knock range, (elevation, weather, fuel quality, build...) That said you should be able to pull 14psi off. Make sure you log to be sure so you are not throwing money out the window.

If you want stock power then just run waste gate.

I agree 14 psi should be doable without any problems. Above 14 psi things become trickier, I recommend using the ECU's built in boost control functionality together with an upgraded solenoid. That way you can control the boost both by RPM and load, you also get the benefit of lowered boost if too much knock is encountered.

As mentioned previously fuel will be a very important factor. If your stuck with regular 91 pump, don't expect any miracles.

The car currently doesn't have any type of boost control solenoid. I may just datalog 12psi and see how that goes.

What seems to be a popular solenoid these days? One that can easily integrate with a chrome ECU.

Seems like Chrome is fine with just about any solenoid though right? Is there any reason why you chose that one?
