    Main bearing installation

So I'm in the middle of installing King main bearings in my engine. I just want to verify I've got them installed in the correct side. It seems to me that the grooved half of the bearing belongs in the block side while the other half of the bearing goes in the girdle side. But, I could see how one could argue that they'd go in the other way also since the non-grooved side has 2 holes that line up with the groove in the block. Anyone know for certain which side goes where?

Thanks! The answer can't get much clearer than that. Obviously I need to use the service manual. I just pulled this project out after letting it sit for almost 2 years, so I'm not quite in the groove yet.

Didn't mean it like that. I haven't touched main bearings in probably 6 months so I can't remember either and don't wanna give you bad direction. FSM never lets you down however.
