Yes all notebook, or mobile chips have speed stepping, and TMT as fail safes. The allocation of M is not the only processors to receive it. This processor is not an M processor yet still has the protections. It is the first/only Skylake thus far with unlocked multipliers.

Thus far I am over the top impressed with all but the touchpad, but I had to search for the best driver with my last one as well. It may be I just need to fiddle with the settings further to improve the response. Really it does not mater much as I am on the search for a above par mouse.

I will end up stringin HDMI to the 60" Samsung for iRacing to see how that works out. Need to finish my Seat for the wheels first.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

TBH, I never use the touchpad. Right now, I'm using an MSI DS-100 mouse.

As to Clevo; meh. I've been down the sager route before. If I were going again, I'd probably go with AVA--but I prefer (And will be sticking with) MSI. Overpriced my foot. MSI's are spot-on for pricing; I don't need a shitty 1080p TN panel screen.

My problem with MSI is that they are charging the same price for a 6700hq as other notebooks out there that have the Z170 chipset and a 6700k processor. Yes it the same processor as a desktop as in it's the exact same chip and it's leaps and bounds faster than a 6700hq. So yes, MSI laptops are overpriced.

I have no idea what you're talking about. January 2014. Find me ONE 15" laptop that had:

    i7-4700MQ (8 cores)
    16GB of DDR3 RAM
    128GB SSD
    1TB HDD
    GTX 780M
    3k IPS screen
    backlit, color keyboard (customizable)
    and <$2000.

I call bullshit. MSI was the cheapest & best on the market. Stop comparing your rebaged Clevo's to midrange offerings. And the $100 premium to get the GT60 with the 3k IPS panel was a no-brainer upgrade.

    p.s.
comparison on CPU alone does not tell the whole story. In fact, traditionally, budget gaming rigs tended to sacrifice some CPU performance (and cost) so they can offer better GPU & memory options. After all, CPU's haven't really been the limfac in gaming rigs for a while.

I'll take a machine with an ultra M.2 1000% over a standard SSD. Try 2500MB/S read speeds.

You're supposed to use the 128GB for the OS only. Mine has 72.4GB free out of 117. Plenty fast. My games & downloaded crap are on the HDD and taking up 500GB. Maybe invest in supplemental SSD's?

Yeah, I d/l'd from Steam to the default OS drive.

There is an 850 256GB sitting on my desk at work. I am having thoughts!
