    transmission / driveline isue

Last fall I had a failure in my stealth, now that its getting warmer its time to start digging in.

Some history that I am not sure is related. I've been having some clutch issues where the clutch would not release. This seems to be clutch master related and I have a new one to put in.

    What happened:
I was pulling out of a gas station quickly. (not a launch because of clutch issue.) When I shifted into 2nd I experienced a power loss to the wheels. It was not a total loss but something is stopped working. The failure was silent and nothing seems to be leaking.

It feels like a badly slipping clutch but there was no warning. What ever let go went from working fine to not working.

    My guesses:
    Clutch failure
Clutch failure related to the clutch hydraulics/master.
    VCU
Output shaft/spool (both were replaced in 06)
    Rear end

Any thoughts / suggestions on what to look at 1st and how to proceed?

I would start by pulling the transfer case to check the output shaft for sure. When you break one and your vcu is good the car will be really hard to get moving from a stop, once it gets rolling its better. It feels like a slipping clutch, but happens instantly.

If your vcu is bad the car won't move at all.

It seems to me your pressure plate teeth have given out. You push them in, and they never push back out sufficiently would describe the kind of feeling you're having.

I've broken several output shafts (one, only 3 days old and one was a Mark Williams shaft!) and what you describe is sounding like that may have happened to you.

    Nothing is unbreakable.

I can take a look at your car next weekend if you're available. Is it in a garage/out of the weather?
