    Mechanical gauges?

    Guys,

Do y'all find the mechanical boost and oil gauges as reliable as electronic ones?

Im already having to buy a 300 dollar boost controller, speed-o-meter, fuel gauge, coolant temp gauge amongst a huge pile of other junk.

The price difference is amazing between the mechanical and electronic sensor ones.

Im especially interested in the results of a mechanical boost gauge, do they work as well?

Mechanical boost gauges are perfectly acceptable, assuming you get one of decent quality (aka not a $15 gauge from Advance Auto) and make sure the line running to it is shielded from heat and run through a grommet in the firewall.

Really my boost gauge is just for looks as I tune through the logs. Since your boost controller will be accurate, who cares if the boost guage is off a pound or two? I had an autometer mechanical boost gauge a long time ago and it was within a pound or so at 15 PSI.

I have a cheapy mechanical one from Advance that I had used for years. I switched it out for an electric Prosport gauge to match my WB02 gauge. The Prosport gauge is junk, I liked the cheap mechanical one a LOT more. Now I use LCDBC, but it doesn't support vacuum.

    Great! Mechanical it is then!

Im not logging anything except for plugs and AFR on the fly.

Terry will be able to take his wife/girlfriend out to eat once or twice.

I just want a reference point from the EBC

My car came from Japan with a Pivot mechanical vac/boost gauge fitted and it's been spot on for 10 years.

Measured it against my Zeitronix ZT-2 display and EMU logs and it's perfectly calibrated.

Same with my manual boost controller (Forge), set and forget!.
