Thoughts on 4B1 engine swap?

If your transmission is FWD, then you have a F5M33 unit, made by Mitsubishi.

The poster in that thread was incorrect in saying that they had a Getrag unit.

Getrag units were only in the AWD models, using part numbers W5MG1 (5-speed) and W6MG1 (6-speed).

So, if the parts in question are for a F5M33, You have the right part numbers providing they were looked up correctly.

Thank you for clearing that up! That's what was throwing me off. I did a bit of looking around on the EVO forums and those are indeed the correct part numbers.

...and spending a ton of time and money on an engine swap with an engine turned the wrong way, is a really odd way to try to save a few bucks on gas. Strange thread, so I don't feel bad for the derailment.

No worries at all, interesting stuff to read so I don't mind. The fuel economy was the main thing driving the swap, however just the experience of having a swap done alone would be something that I would love to have.For now I'm just going to get the taller 5th gear, but after looking more into it, a 4G swap is probably something I'll do in the future
