why? because the funneling walls inside the 3s maf are so thick. at the honeycomp they are like 4mm thick. While the funnel walls in the evo maf are about 1mm thick

take a light and examine the funnel walls in the 3s maf you'll see yourself. tbh I'm starting to think evo maf is less restrictive because of this...
A better test is to install a vac gauge in one of the pre turbo intake tubes. The more vacuum in the intake, the more restrictive the MAF is from not allowing the air thru it.

Start with your car tuned to about 450whp.

Read the gauge with the stock MAF and then again with the EVO MAF installed. I observed only a few inches of vac with the stock MAF and about 7 inches with the EVO.

Then up your boost till the car makes 500whp.

Read the gauges again. I couldn't get the car to make more HP with the stock MAF because it couldn't count that much air but with the EVO MAF at that level the gauge was almost maxed! That car also couldn't make any more power without knock on its setup.

Given the trend I would assume our new stock style MAF would not have nearly the same restriction but have yet to be in a position to redo the test. This is where I left off
