What is this on my air compressor!

I just picked up this compressor for $60 and found these threads were half stripped. It connects a copper line up to the gauge junction box. What is it for and is it important?

I fixed it. I cut off the stripped threads and got a new piece of copper pipe and compression fittings. Now the tank won't fill more than 30psi, but no leaks.

30 psi isn't much. Mine fills to 200psi...... a rattle gun prob won't operate of that and it will constantly be on when ever you need to use it. How many HP is this thing? cus $60 is lot for a small 2nd hand compressor. If it's big mofo then you have a good find. Assuming you can get it to hold more than 30psi.

It's a 4.5hp direct drive 24 gallon tank 130psi max compressor. I replaced the regulator today and kept the original pressure switch. Also got an oiler for one side and a water trap for the other (2 outlets) but I need to get 2 couplers to extend them out a bit or they hit the regulator. I also had to make a new pressure check valve but local parts store sells copper pipe so no biggie. Still need to put a gauge in.

I have some gauges but if you have some in-line gauges and a couple swivels how much would you want for them?

I'd kinda like it setup like this if I could get a regulator on each gauge, if not then just a single gauge on one side would work.
    Quick Connect < Swivel < Gauge < Trap < Regulator > Oiler > Gauge > Swivel > Quick Connect

I do not believe we have inlines...We do have a bunch of T fittings and regulators. You could give them a call at 920-766-0113 if you would like and tell them exactly what you need. Lonnie is a very very smart guy and could help you out no problem. Mention you know Tret
