I guess I was thinking about 3rd door option. FJ, Ion & rx8 fall into this category. Maybe a Veloster is more her speed?

She wants solid interior, no cheap plastic rattle trap crap. Preferes 4 door, but not a must. Could be suv-ish if mileage is in check. FWD, or AWD for the winter roads here.

Going to be a used car purchased through dealer auction. Something pre-2010 (price) until my truck is paid off when we can buy new.

    On her list so far:

    Acura
    Mazda
    Jeep suv
    Scion TC
    Jetta
    WRX

No BMW, Mercedes, Volvo... (I have a parts wallet killer already)

Ideas, and what to stay away from?
I'm confused. is there a road between your bedroom and kitchen?

We love our FJ, it is a 2013 but not much changed in the production years.

Mileage sucks, we average 19 mpg highway, 17 mpg city/mixed, but it is roomy, drives great, excellent for road trips (aside from the mileage) , and I've pulled out 3 stuck trucks now with it, the little thing can PULL.

Another car to look at, it will be newer, but they have good deals on them, Buick Regal GS, it is a rebadged Opel Insignia, I've put over 50K miles on mine since I got it. Fun 4 door with a 6speed.

I would stay away from the WRX unless you want to work on it. My girlfriend bought one about a year ago. Out of that year she has maybe been able to drive it for 4 or 5 months. It is an 08, 2 months in the turbo blew, we replaced it with a remanned OEM unit. 2 weeks after that 4th gear started grinding and then the pivot ball for the clutch throwout fork broke off. We replaced the trans with a low mileage unit from a '13 WRX. Most recently the engine spun a bearing, and believe me when I tell you these engines are not as fun to tear into as the 6g engines. The engine failure looks to be her fault from running it low on oil when the turbo blew. It just so happened to let go after taking it down the track at NG this year lol.
