Took the car to Santa Pod on Friday for some testing at wastegate power. Initially had some teething troubles with the clutch biting point following a hydraulic release bearing failure at 10 pm the night before! The gearbox removal and refit was completed at 2 am! Thanks to the guys at Eurospec for such a huge effort despite having a big Time Attack event to attend at Rockingham the next day.
By the time we got a workable bite point on the clutch it was mid afternoon. The first run was at 3.26 pm.
PB 60' - 1.5586
PB ET - 9.7 @ 145 mph
New European ET record
This was at wastegate power, approx 75-80%.
I immediately queued for a 2nd run but the clutch didn't like it. It launched ok, not brilliant but then slipped in 2nd and I had to pedal it. Further up the track I thought I missed 4th but in fact a wire had pulled off a board under the dash, cutting all power. Still 11.0 @ 107 mph. Easily fixed and rested the car for an hour to cool the clutch.
3rd run at 4.52 pm
Raised the 2 step by 500 rpm
PB 60' - 1.5535
A better run all round until I missed 4th,
Unfortunately this was it for the day as the track closed shortly after but very encouraging knowing that we have over 1 bar of boost left on the table plus more ignition and some clutch upgrades.
