Low Fuel Light Always On

If you have regular stock gauge cluster bulbs, then it's the wire that wraps around the rod for the reserve sensor. It has insulation worn off and is grounding on the rod. Super easy to screw up when installing the pump assembly into the tank. It happens fairly often.

I've done exactly that. Easy fix, just annoying.

I had that problem and it is exactly as Hans said. The wire that wraps around the metal rod that hold the low fuel sensor on the fuel hat got stripped and shorted to the rod. I re-insulated the wire and all was good again.

Well that makes sense, because it worked perfect when I installed it, then one day (probably the 5th fill up after install) it just decided to come on and stay on. Good job Hans!

Got the load resistor installed today, and it SEEMS like it's working. The light is definitely off, just have to wait to see if it lights up on a low gas tank. Thanks again Brian!

Me too. It looks like the light is fed a constant voltage along with several other bulbs in the same pathway, and the ECU grounds the circuit closed when it needs to. Not sure how this would/could affect the rest of the bulbs

The light wont turn on until you get to E, then from there you still about over a gallon left in the tank once the light comes on.

Good news! Since I wired and changed the gauge faces, the fuel gauge was just off a bit. Light came on like it should have. Works great! I got trigger happy and ordered a red incandescent T4 as a replacement yesterday, and it's already on the way, so I COULD replace the LED with a stock bulb. Question is, should I bother? I don't think the load resister will get that hot, as it's a 25W capactiy, and is only eating about 2W, but it's being fed from the common voltage source for multiple warning lights. Will it affect the other lights? Anything I need to worry about?

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I have had this same issue for years since doing my led bulb conversions. My question is where did you wire your resistor in?
