    Mark Williams 300M shaft apearance

I don't install these things every day, so if there were a change in the appearance or manufacturing, I'd probably be the last to know... The last shaft I bought for my own car was a QuadcoXR, so I can't even use it for comparison. I was under the impression that the 300M shaft had a dark coating on it... The one I just received has no coating, and is indistinguishable from a stock one. It does have a date code stamped on the end of it. I am replacing a MW 300M shaft that has a dark coating, and no date code stamping.

Being as I have no way to verify the metallurgy, you can understand my concern that I may have been inadvertently shipped the wrong shaft... Anyone have any recent experience in this matter, and able to quash or confirm my fears?

It was determined that I was inadvertently shipped the wrong shaft, and it has been rectified... The new one and the old one look identical minus the wear.

A have a couple of quotes from the other forum that I found quite interesting while I was trying to figure this out:

Neither the old shaft(installed by 3SX in 2011) or this new shaft, have any etchings or markings of any kind....
