    Oh, boy.

Look like they wearin' bubble-wrap, now.

I guess in order to make a movie out of a comic book, liberties can be taken, and they sure have been.

Gotta invoke good and evil to get an audience these days, have to wait to see if there's any religious aspect.

Hollywood isn't above that type of cynicism in pursuit of large cash.

    I do it for free...

How well can they tell such a 'sweeping' epic in two or even three hours?

Does it end with one of those to-be-continued hooks?

I'll prolly watch it anyway, but I've still only watched the Heath Ledger Batman movie.

Oh, i take that back; I have an aversion to Ben Affleck that I just can't work around, so I shouldn't comment further.

Most of you all in this thread are either trolling, or have never read a comic book.

Here is a preview of what you've missed from not reading an awesome Frank Miller comic from the '80's.

I groaned when I heard Ben was going to be Batman but now seeing the trailer I'm thinking it just might work. I don't really care for the guy and I thought it was a big mistake casting him. We will see, he might pull it off better than anyone else has. I'm pretty excided to see this movie now.

John, I had more comic books than I had hairs on my head.

My point is only that movies depicting comic book characters are such a departure from the comics themselves they have to be regarded as another thing altogether.

Yes, they're both about Batman/Superman, but comics are not a proper match for movies.

I read lots of books, and a movie based on a good book has to go a ways before it stacks up to the book - I understand this, as I'm sure you do, but when it comes to comics, it's less a case of a movie blowing the comic into the weeds then a difficulty of perception given the format.

While I enjoyed the hell out of my comic book days, the movies they give rise to are a different animal altogether, I find.

That prolly makes zero sense, but there it is...

All that aside from Ben Affleck, of course.

the audiences for comics and movies are so vastly different it's silly. there's no way a true to the story mainstream comic like Batman or Superman could be made into a movie without pissing off some(or a lot) of purists. it's just not in the card.

but regardless as a major fan I'm always excited and thoroughly enjoy ever minute of every movie because I spent years dreaming of a movie being made. I'd read magazines like "Wizard" and their articles on what actors should play what characters. finally I'm getting it and I'm not going to cry to much(FU Ben Affuck) about it.

I think you nailed it for me, Bobby - I'm a purist.

Honestly, the last two movies I went to see - that I wanted to see - were Jurassic Park and The Passion.

I was a dinosaur nut as a kid, and my faith demanded I see The Passion.

Neither was preceded by a book, so there's that, but going back further, every time I went to see a movie inspired by a book, I was severly disappointed; the only movie I ever saw that compared (even remotely) to the book was The Hunt For Red October.

My disenchantment with movies is pretty comprehensive.

I did take a female and her son to see "The Santa Clause" back in the day cuz in an effort to get laid, but.
