Something is better than nothing, Lori. Not to push a button or be rude or anything, but the BRG isn't anything extravagant, but is growing... it's just a gathering of like-minded people. I know the NG is a different animal, and people like that it's track oriented but sometimes you gotta do what you can do. An autoX and car show is still fun and different.

That's my opinion at least. But you know me... I just like to get drunk and have fun

With all of the Mitsubishi turbo platforms discontinued, some for over 20 years, the communities are getting smaller. The dsm shootout seems to be pretty inclusive of all the Mitsubishi family. I think that in the event of no 3s national gathering, the shootout would be a great alternative. They have auto cross, drags, and most of the big names in Mitsubishi performance are there.

This was my first major 3S / DSM event ever. We went to the DSM Shootout back in 2000 and it was a blast. It encouraged me to have the GA 3S Track Days here in GA that we held for a few years before I finally bowed out. It was a good time.

With the cost of travel, you can count me out if there isn't any racing events. There are localized gatherings to just meet up. The NG is the big event too see all the cars being tested in all different ways. For just a car show, I can drive to 2 or 3 of them a weekend and still be home every night which is what I used to do before I had my kids. I'm not saying people have to race there car at the events, as I didn't my first year. But that is what brought me out, was to see all the 3s's in action. Sorry but I feel the NG has to be more than just a car show.

I agree with Manny. As far as just car show related events, I have NEG and ECG for that, which are basically long weekends. I don't know what we'd really do with the time if there wasn't any racing. Most probably wouldn't travel that far for just a long weekend. The NG sets itself apart from other gatherings because it has the racing events. Otherwise, people would probably just go to BRG. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the drags were discontinued. I and several others have lost interest especially since it seems there are fewer and fewer racing each year. People just break their cars during drags. It probably would be the easiest to eliminate because pretty much everyone who drags also does the other events, so they'd likely still attend. I don't think there are many if any that just do the drags and nothing else. Actually, since I brought it up, Manny, would you still attend if the drags were eliminated?

I would like to see a road course in future NGs if possible. I am less interested in the drag strip and I would not miss it if it were omitted. I hope the stars align and a 2016 event emerges.

Agreed with the above, though it's great to have a meetup of everyone it seems like more people are making it a priority of seeing people at their own local-ish gatherings (like NEG, ECG, BRG, etc) instead of NG, which is a touch disappointing for NG's numbers.

Yes Dan, I would still go if drags was dropped but I would prefer to keep them as it's been said in the past that as long as it's on a test and tune it doesn't cost. Having all 3 race events and a car show really shows how good a car is and it's fun to watch. I know people are scared to break on the drags but it is what it is. I still want it and I broke twice this last year lol. Drags are getting boring for some I feel because some of the fasted aren't showing up anymore like 3sx's drag car, nelson, matt, ray, and chris for example. But I am very competitive and like to compete in all 4 fields as well as have a great time.

I guess my post wasn't reflecting my thoughts correctly. I wasn't talking about eliminating the track events forever, but maybe just for one year so the NG could continue in some form and recover to it's regular self in the future. It's better than losing the NG altogether. I suspect if we we don't have an NG in 2016, we'll never have one again, and I'd hate to have it come to that.

Tom I understand what your saying but maybe you don't understand. A car show alone would in NO WAY help the NG. The problem is attendees and a car show alone would just show that only you and a couple of locals might attend. It cost me almost a $1,000 just in fuel. That would be the most expensive car show in history for me. I'm not going with out my family and they don't fit in the car. And I'm not taking a minivan to a 3s car show. I also believe if you get rid of drags it's no big deal but if you got rid of even 1 more event, most people would not go. Remember travel is a huge cost for most so it has to be worth it. I have local car shows, and local tracks I can go to. The NG has ALL which it's what makes it what it is.
