    1999 3000GT VR-4 versus 2013 Charger SRT-8

I figured that some of you might enjoy this

While getting some Tijuana street tacos, we decided to have a few friendly runs - enjoy! **PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION FOR DETAILS REGARDING OUTCOMES**

Ben rode in the VR-4 as the passenger to make the camera car's race weight closer to the SRT-8.

    First run at 20:
Both punched in first. SRT-8 up-shifted late and falls back. VR-4 wins.

    Second run at 30:
I intentionally started in second to give the SRT-8 a better chance. He did lunge HARD initially (as he should) in first but made the mistake of letting off thinking that I would have stopped for a redo.

Having tuned and driven both, I can say that this SRT-8 obviously has the slight torque advantage (both are monsters), but this VR-4 takes the cake up top. 'twas fun!
    3/S Street Tuner San Diego's Panda VR-4 v.3 w/ 38psi (peak) on E85+Meth | 3094 lbs as of 7/2/19

    '92 VR-4 - Fully built, AEM EMS S2, MHI EVO3 16G's, suspension, and corner balancing | '10 EVO X SE | '04 EVO VIII SSL
    4/1/21 - "retuned" est. 570AWHP VD SAE (580 U/C | second gear | 88°F) holding ~30psi (more boost & less timing still... hehe)
On the side (v.4): IPS single turbo kit w/ GReddy 70mm, BC 3.4 billet stroker crank, BC gears, Italo billet oil pump gears, etc.

hehe I thought you had a FULL Tanabe setup chillin' and ready to go on?! BTW, my next tuning/tech day will be on the 9th - lots of people are free then. I will post on SC3S whenever I can.

One of my posts from July 4th:

I have a tuning video for each car uploaded on my channel for those that are curious, so each one received noticeable improvements before I decided that they would be a good lineup. The SRT put down 416//459 at a dyno day last month (canned Pump-91 tune), but it really means squat with the hood open, fourth gear assumingly, and an absurd weight.

Here is second gear (VD SAE) for the SRT-8:

Here is third gear (VD SAE) for the VR-4 with restrictive EVO MAS and safe tune:

I will be switching it over to an LS6 MAF within the next few days just in time for MOD next week. I want to try and get her on the dyno to represent the 3/S since it has been five years since the last one participated.

    aaaand from July 6th:

A "rematch" might happen later this month. The SRT owner is currently working on a few suggested items from me before doing a 91/100 (95 mix) tune. I spent maybe an hour re-tuning Eddie's yesterday and have some initial results:

LS6 MAF and new K&N w/ filter condom lol

"est. 440AWHP//468AWTQ VD SAE @22psi (+19//20 U/C) with initial retuning on LS6 MAF - still conservative too. These are solid numbers for a full weight/amenities 3/S."

The rematch will probably happen next month, and the '99 will be tuned for sub-500whp hopefully for ultimate walkage lolol.
