    It gets even easier

Microsoft just provided a media creator tool that downloads and generates an ISO, USB, or DVD media directly. You might need to have reserved for this link to work.

LOvin 10 on my laptop, and in process of upgrading the mrs...

If you have an Elantech touchpad you have to return to a previous driver to get to work. You also mustshut down auto driver install or it will update/kill it constantly.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate laptop which I don't really use right now. Is it worth the upgrade? I was thinking of upgrading my wife's cheapo 8.1 laptop first to try it out, but want to wait until she is done getting her Doctorate. Don't want to screw anything up right now, she's almost done.

I just upgraded my laptop (which I use for tuning Chrome) to 10 from 7. so far its like a compromise between 7 and 8.1 with the start menu back, but its still got the tiles in the start menu. I have never had a problem with the tiles on my desktop which is 8.1 so I will probably upgrade the desktop soon as well. I bypassed the waiting line by using the microsoft tool that you can download from their site. backed up my few important files (just in case) and did the upgrade option instead of the clean install. it installed just fine and all my apps stayed installed (except for an older version of AVG which needed to be updated anyways) and working along with all my files. very easy and pain free.

^^ What he said. With the upgrade selection it is painfree, and unlike past upgrades I did not need to reinstall anything with the exception of a new version of antivirus, and roll back 1 driver due to the updated one not working. I really am amazed how easy, complete, and trouble free it is.

yeah 10 is pretty nice, 8.1 can pretty much be brought back though with the tablet mode.

Windows 10 activation/installs surpassed Chrome and Linix in one day (14 million activations)... that's 10,000 activations per minute...

Mike, that is a horrible statistical analysis. That's like saying when Ubuntu released it's new LTS version, that it beats out all other OS activations in a single day. It's not new purchases, it's an upgrade.

Anyhow, I just set up a virtualbox to see what all the hype is about. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate last night, been running updates all day and night, finally getting Windows 10 to install, and I noticed my 50GB of space I gave the OS is cutting it close. Just a barebones (not additional software) windows install is already taking up over 35GB.

Edit: It's more like when the next iOS version or Mac OS version comes out with a free upgrade. Of course everyone jumps on the upgrade. Market share didn't increase, just shifted from one version to another.
