    Favorite NG Memories

I've been to every NG. Every one. And I wasn't the original organizer, so it's not because I had to. I can't say I've been to every car show. I used to beg Alan not to make me go. I hate car shows.

As I'm trying to finish up the work for this year's NG, I'm reflecting on past years and I realized that people must have some amazing memories.

Here's one that'll surprise those who were there. I actually REMEMBER the shopping cart races! Bridge and I were in the carts. I remember Terry was pushing one, but I can't remember who was pushing the other. Yeah, I know we could've been hurt, but we weren't, so it's all good to look back and laugh. I remember a wheelie chair that Josh brought that year, too. I was getting dragged around in some fashion (I think they were afraid I couldn't walk) and people were scrambling for a helmet! Don't you realize by now that there's nothing to hurt up there in that beaner of mine??? I can't believe I remember that stuff!

I also remember Dr. Jack TRYING to break his car. He was always fun to watch. Yeah, I admit it.... I actually enjoyed that.

There are tons more, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling. I'd love to hear yours.

Oh geez. Two more... One was the road course in Memphis with the St. Jude's physician in his corvette. I could do without that one. Second... having Keith come to Memphis... Awesome.

Ha! DR. Vette was my instructor for the driving school, and he was awesome in many ways. Two things I'll always remember about that driving school 1) on my 4th lap after hitting 130 mph on the main straight and wondering if I was going to make the big sweeper, he leans over and shouts " that was good, now I want you to hit 140 on the next pass". After my WTF moment, I listened to his tips and hit 141 MPH on my final lap with him. I probably would have been happy with 130 as my limit if he had not been there for support. 2) After my laps with him as instructor were over, he took me for 3 laps in the vette ('06 Z06 with coilovers and Hoosier slicks) and had me pinned up against the door glass in the twisties. He wanted to show me the difference between my KDW street tires and his race tires. One thing I really felt good about was his Z06 topped out at 140 MPH on the big straight, so our little six bangers can hang with the big V-8's no problem.

I LOVED the shopping cart races!!! How about my epic reverse 360 spin stopping on the center of the track facing the right direction?

Paul "nutt'n" on everybody by tossing pistachios at them.

Various people "yard sprawling" Saturday night (don't ask I will NOT mention names, you HAD to be there)

I could go on all evening
