Your gray water runs into your septic?
Normally around here only the toilets run to the septic tank. The gray water (sinks, showers) just run somewhere out in the back of the house.

All drains in my house run into our septic tank. I don't know if it is a state or county code that dictates whether or not gray water can run into the open land. Here in NC it has to go into septic as far as I know. I do have a very large tank. Somthing along the lines of 2000-2500 gallons. I believe they install them larger to accommodate the gray water also. I have to have mine pumped every 4-5 years and it is just the wife and myself in the house. Cost is pretty cheap. $225 to pump the entire tank.
Seeing that I am also on well water I would not want to contaminate the ground water with chemicals so Even if I wasn't on septic, I still have to be careful what goes into the ground around here.
