With the money new cars cost I'd better damn well be allowed to do whatever I wish to it or they can kiss my ass and I won't buy one. I can have my fun older tuner and just keep dropping used jdm engines in a corolla or whatever every couple hundred thousand miles for a couple hundred bucks.

Guess what? There's a reason the DC-3 and the P-51 are still popular planes. There's a reason why muscle cars are popular. Part of it may be nostalgia...but the bigger part is probably that they're piss cheap and easy to work on by comparison. Don't get me wrong, I like A/C, PS, PB, etc...but at a certain point, you just have so many added-on features that it starts biting you in the ass. That's the problem with a lot of newer cars, there's now insanely high-tech ways of stealing cars that take advantage of keyless entry systems & proxy-start features. I'm just as content to keep a $.99 key i got copied at Home Depot vs. the $50 one i'd be required to get from the dealership.

Dude I'm right there with you. I bought a beat to shit Kia sephia for $500, drive it for a little over a year before it blew a radiator hose and a belt. I made my money back 10x in gas savings alone. Then sold it still broken for $300. Should have kept the damn thing.

If I find another kia with under 50k miles on it and going for a steal, i'm gonna buy it. I've literally doubled the mileage on this one. Granted, I've had to replace the exhaust, alternator and battery, but that seems like a small price to pay.

You're going to replace that stuff around 100k miles on just about any car anyways.
