    Wheel sizes..

I have got a set of wheels for my GTO.. but have been told i possibly can't use them..

The rims a 17"dia.. the fronts are 9"width and the rears are 10" I have been told this will throw out the aws and the awd...is this correct.

If so i guess the all the rims need to be the same width then.

    Cheers

The width is not the issue (although certain 10" wheels MAY be too wide for the GTO), the rolling radius of the wheel/tire combo must be pretty much identical front and back, otherwise the VCU will suffer damage.

Tire combination is the key here.

    Example:

Running 245/45/17 tire on the front 9" wheels gives a rolling radius of 204.93 cm

Running 275/40/17 tire on the rear 10" wheels gives a rolling radius of 204.77 cm

In this case all 4 tires are very similar in diameter and the VCU would not suffer damage running such a combination because the difference in revolutions per mile is negligible (hopefully the wheels have the correct offset, clear the brakes and are not too wide for the car, then you should be sweet).

    Have a look for yourself:
