I am not really wild about the N/A hybrid manifolds that are out there. I think we could do better.

4G guys have HOW many intake manifold options again? like a dozen? LOL.
Any intake manifold that doesn't bolt to the head isn't a full aftermarket manifold, neither are larger plenums welded to the stock runners. I think I may have seen one or two real aftermarket intakes that bolt to the cylinder heads and not the stock lower intake.

Almost every 4g manifold in production was also bolted to the same car on the same dyno and tested back to back as well.

Yeah, a LOT more complicated to make one for our engines, but very possible. Being a 4cyl is about a billion times easier. Nelson was running a hogans intake manifold I believe it was custom all the way down to the heads. I suppose it comes down to how much R&D and money one wants to invest. But who knows how much hp has been left on the table because of it.. Almost every other platform has upgraded intake manifolds that has documented gains.

The test of the 68hta will be very soon.

If anyone followed my Dyno vids I tapped out the e16g at 595 on 100 octane. I probably could have gotten more with cams and e85 but the internal gate design seemed to be limiting me to 25-26 psi peak and 22-23 to redline.. We did some tweaks to the timing table and did improve the spool a little and was making more power overall at 19 and up. I was disappointed a little but it is what it is, not far off from where others ended up on 16g's, maybe different dynos would be a little higher who knows. Did push some coolant on the last run so I'm doing a bit of a teardown while the engine is out, getting rid of Cometic gaskets, checking out the bearings etc because it's gonna get real.

So while not apples to apples..the external gate kit will be going on now with the 68's, if all goes well reports by the 26th - 27..staying on 100 octane tune at first and not gonna push them hard until I get into some bigger injectors and flex fuel. At the very least maybe some higher octane fuel.

Any other 3 liter guys tried the 68's yet? I know a bunch bought em but haven't been seeing any updates. I don't mind being the ginuea pig..but still would like to know.

So, I got the new manifolds in today. My initial thoughts are im happy to be going back to external gated..and thick manifolds. The cons are I also think the manifold design could be better. Mostly for 2 things, the runner lengths are not equal. And wastegate placement isn't ideal for the rear, also pipe alignment and the inner finish, however they are what I would call better than any other td05 option currently. But not perfect. But im a perfectionist, im not happy until I do it myself typically.

The car will tell the real story, stay tuned.
