I recently took my car into the shop I've been going to for years. The car is a 95 SL with an Auto transmission. My car was leaking antifreeze pretty bad a few weeks ago. Long story short, my car had a bad freeze plug and they had to remove the transmission in order to replace it due to it's ridiculously difficult to access location (like everything else in these cars).
After getting my car back, I've noticed that it's been losing oil at about maybe a pint or so per day. I've also noticed a slightly larger oil spot on the ground under my car than there used to be. (The car has always leaked oil, just not to this extent, maybe a drop per day was the amount before-not enough to need to add it between oil changes). The new slightly larger puddle I'm seeing now however, still doesn't appear large enough to equal the amount of oil that the car is losing. This leads me to believe that the car is burning it, however the car isn't producing any more smoke than usual (usual for my car is a slight amount of white smoke under acceleration, really its only visible when temps are below 50 and car was at a stop before the acceleration).
Obviously though, the oil is going somewhere! If all else fails, I'll probably end up taking it back to the shop, but I was just wondering if there's any common areas of oil leaks that removing the the starter and the transmission may have caused that I should try to look for myself to try to avoid having to take it back to the shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
