best of luck getting the glass to seat flat on all 4 pistons
Took some time and I had to redo one of the rods a couple times, but I did eventually get it level. I used a sheet of metal used for cutting ducting as it was the most flat surface I had around the garage. It worked perfectly as a reference checker. The glass will be sittin on these round rubber pieces I picked up at Lowes. Any minor leveling that will need to be done, I'll do with those to get the glass perfect.

Very nice Greg! Cant wait to see it done. I worked an auto booth at at my old job. We used it to decontaminate nuclear material though. It will take the hide off of you in about .002 seconds. lol

You can probably shim under the rubber pieces, so it will basically be invisible. And then after all of your hard work you will find out that your floor is probably 3/8" off level...

Overall the project looks great, can't wait to see it finished. Maybe you could get a stylized 3000 / Stealth etched into the glass. You know, like the shirts from keith / mobo back on that other site...

I can see, from this and the lamp thread ... you will not have a significant other rearranging furniture on a whim.
Looking forward to seeing the block with glass on it.

That's the exact design I was thinking. ...but I don't know if I want to free hand all that. I have to cut the design out with an exacto-knife of a sticky-backed blanket which will adhear to the back side of the table. The cut away design will get blasted so you have the etched imprint on the back side of the glass.

I've been thinking of one of these for a couple years now. The problem is that I've never ruined a motor yet. Apparently I need more RPM's & carelessness.

I would pay a grand for a completely finished 6G72 coffee table. Well, actually for any V8 too. Anybody have links?

Are you serious? To be honest I was thinking of marketing these. Each one would obviously be customized and built by hand but it'd be a great side business.
