All electronics in the car work.

The compressor light in the DCC panel stays on for about 10-20 seconds when the engine is started and blows cold air. After 10-20 seconds the red light comes on and I'm back to untreated air. Blower is fine. The mechanic I took the car to said the compressor is fine, that the revolution sensor is the problem. New compressor was ordered, but the sensor was not included in the unit and it's been impossible to track down the sensor, or a compressor which comes with the sensor.
I've gathered there are two possible solutions.
1) Jump the green wire/yellow stripe/silver bands to the green wire/red stripe/silver bands. Red dot stays on, compressor runs as normal.(turns on/off as it should)
2) Cut the white wire which sends the RPM signal. Red dot turns off?
Does anyone have a more detailed explanation I can give to the mechanic?
Are these my only options? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to either system? I have a parts store trying to find a compressor with a sensor, but if I can't I'm just going to have the mechanic try this bypass.
Thanks!
