Something isn't right here. When you open the door you should have 5 - 5 watt bulbs turning on, 2.08 amps (@12 volts). Maybe you have led's installed, but I'm leaning toward your meter being the problem.

Yes, weird things happen when the 9V batteries in meters get low

40mA doesn't sound too terrible. I had 180mA draw after car-off and it was because my passenger-side seatbelt clip was shorted and keeping a circuit active. You might check this out on your car, here's a thread I made on 3si about it: SOLVED: Driver side door switch lights stay on - HIGH OFF CURRENT - common problem - 3000GT/Stealth International Message Center

Ill try and get a hold of another battery...maybe this weekend when my daughter arrives..I can grab the one out of the Blazer. Battery is not clamped down at the moment.

Try to get your hands on a known good battery to sit in there and try for a few days, I bet that's where the issue is (even though it's theoretically OK). I have seen batteries which would do this exact thing, they load test fine and hold their voltage on the bench, yet when they're fitted to a car they drain to the point where they don't start.

Out of curiosity, is the battery clamped down?

You know I was wondering kinda the same from vids I watched on youtube. I have confirmed that the Stealth has the old school bulbs in there, actually swapped a couple out for new ones. Do I have my multi-meter hooked up right per the photo I left in one of my responses?
