    OHIO - Hocking Hillls Cruise & Climb - October 4th, 2014

When: Saturday, October 4th (and Sunday, Oct. 5th)
    Where: Hocking Hills area, Ohio

A facebook page for the event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/662307597192337/

    Saturday:

Here is a tentative schedule and route for the day:

10:00 am: Meet up at Walmart off of US 33 in Logan, OH

10:30 am: Depart for cruise through the Hocking Hills area.

Here is a map of the proposed route: http://goo.gl/maps/sTOVo

Our cruise will begin on SR 664 and take us down to Hocking Hills State Park, where we will make a stop at Old Man's cave, the most popular stop in the Hocking Hills area. We will begin at the Lower falls and continue our hike through the cave to the Upper Falls. It is approximately a 1 mile hike.

Our cruise will continue through the area, as we head over to the Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve. Here we will stop for a hike up to the top of Conkle's Hollow, where you will be treated to amazing views of the valley below. It is approximately a 1 - 2 mile hike.

Depending on where we are at on time at that point, we may make a stop at the Rock House.

Please keep in mind, that due to the physical activity, I suggest that you bring water to keep hydrated. We will not be making a stop for lunch, so you may also want to also bring snacks along to hold you over until dinner.

Our route will resume, heading East on Thompson Ridge Rd/SR through Laurelville, and then onto Sr 180 W up to SR 374 to US 33. From there we will head over to the campground so that those who are camping can set up their tents.

    6:00 pm:
Dinner at Millstone BBQ in Logan.

We will be camping out again Sat. evening, for anyone that would like to stay the night. We are staying at Hocking Hills Adventures. I have booked two campsites for the group, enough for 6 tents. We can hang out, bs around a fire with some adult beverages and so on. I will bring stuff to make smores and popcorn. Keep in mind that it is October, and overnight temps could get a bit chilly.

    Sunday:

10:30 am Check out from campground.

    11:00 am Breakfast/Brunch somewhere?

12:15 pm Head over to Hocking Hills Canopy Tours for our 1:00 zipline tour.

If you'd like to join us, you can reserve a spot on their website (above). Just keep in mind that at this point the reservations are non-refundable, and tours are done rain or shine.

    Hope to see you there!!

Ok, just some reminders for anyone that is joining us this weekend:

We will meeting at the Walmart off of US 33 in Logan at 10:00 AM, and departing for the cruise at 10:30. Do not be late!

While it will be a bit on the cool side this weekend, it should make for good hiking weather. Just make sure you dress appropriately to be outside for a while. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes. Also, bring water or something to drink to keep hydrated.

We will not be stopping for lunch, so I recommend bringing snacks or something to hold you over until dinner.

Be sure to have at least a half tank of gas in your car before we head out. There will probably not be any opportunities to fill up along the cruise.

Bring an FRS radio if you have one, we can use these to communicate between cars.

If you plan on camping out with us Saturday night:

Temperatures look like they will get down in the 30's, so make sure you have warm sleeping bags or plenty of warm clothes/blankets.

We will have a campfire, so bring your camp chairs, and any snacks and beverages you'd like while hanging out. Alcohol is allowed at the campground. I will bring stuff to make smores and popcorn again.

Even if you are not camping out, you are welcome to come and hang out with us around the fire.

    See everyone on Saturday!!
