Arduino Digital Climate Control on Mighty Car Mods

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet but they took a JDM DCC close to the one in the 3S and gutted it. It houses an Arduino microprocessor which operates the AC and Fans like you normally would but you can hold a button and bring up a performance menu. Do to the nature of the Arduino and all the outputs you can get on some of the boards we could really do some cool stuff with this. I've posted a link to the Gramps build it's about 2/3s of the way in.

Not sure if the forum member that did the work has posted anything on how to DIY this, I've got some spare DCC and several different Arduino units, wonder if we can do this on our platform?

I've been looking for spare DCC in the junk yards for months but haven't found any yet. I have this dream of gutting the DCC internally and replace it with 100% new electronics, with a modern OLED or wide view angle LCD display display in place of the current screen. One of the existing buttons would toggle between climate control, and LCDBC. Instead of text like the current LCDBC, it would be using graphics.

I think the hardest part would be to spend time spying on the electronic signals that are transmitted to the secondary climate control box that holds all the relays, etc.

They are all over the place I've bought many from E-Bay. Try Daddy's auto parts on eBay they seem to get a lot of 3S parts. You would remove the secondary box just like they did on the 98-2000. In some ways converting a manual to DCC might be easier than DCC to Arduino.

A good start would be to look at how Gonzo and the other got a 98-00 working in a pre 98. There are a few wires that needed to be re-routed.
