96 stealth spoiler replicas - FRP and Carbon

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not as they're not vendors here, but I didn't want anyone to miss out on an opportunity if they aren't frequenting the other site. Extreme Dimensions currently has a group buy in progress (in their vendor forum not GB forum) for FRP and Carbon Fiber 96 stealth spoiler replicas based on an OEM 96 spoiler I sent them. There's 2 threads over there, 1 in general containing general info and the GB itself.

^ What beef said. I'm still confused as to the insistance on separate pedestals. That was a question posed over there as well, and I'm honestly confused about it. It would add cost/complexity due to needing multiple molds and doesn't really offer any advantage other than more places for alignment to be f'd up. You can install the spoiler and the 3rd brake light without removing the legs (I've done it), and you actually HAVE to install the legs on the spoiler before mounting it to the car anyways.

As for here vs there...
I understand why this forum exists... and why the people who are only on this site chose it over the other, I was a member during all that drama.
But from ED's perspective it's probably a business decision. 3S's probably make up less than 1% of their business, and I'm sure theres a limit to how much money they'll spend in advertising(supporting) a market this small. They'll put that where it gets the most publicity, which sadly is the other site. I could be wrong, maybe they've got more budget for us... has anyone invited them to sponser here? Just curious.

I'd have probably asked retrospec about doing this... but by the time their first thread was gaining steam here I was already deep in discussions with ED. ED was the ONLY company I've talked to in 3 years of trying who was interested in doing this. A local custom carbon fiber shop (who specializes in open wheel cars) would make me the molds and teach me to do it myself... but the molds were going to cost approximately 5 grand, all up front (I don't have that kind of dough, and doubt anyone would buy at the price point I'd need to recoup that + materials). For them to do the manufacture they wanted 5k for the molds and 800 just in LABOR (!)... PER spoiler(!). Other than those 2 companies I was turned down by every other of the 20+ companies (FRP, Carbon, and ABS) that I approached.

I believe Retro Spec is in process with this as well, or will be. Mad props to any company willing to spend the r&d to make parts for us.

Don't get me wrong, I completely respect the effort that went into getting this off the ground--especially the donation on your part. My beef is with ED and the fact that they couldn't be troubled to even put a TOKEN presence on here. Now maybe that's egotistical of me--but if you DO know your market, you'd be well aware of the animosity that took place in the community. And it's not like a silver membership is that costly.

AF is still the antichrist for the 3/s world...and people have just gone on like nothing ever happened. Well excuse me for having a long-term memory. The fact that I (among countless others) got BANNED over THERE for speaking the truth...was the nail in the coffin.
