3S Calendar - Bad image samples.

For the calendar we have a series of submission guidelines. Every year we have some people that ignore them completely. I have decided to make this post to show why the guidelines are important and what we would get if we ignored them.

I am not talking about image quality that is personal preference and the voting will take care of that. I am just talking about physical aspects of the image. Here are the image requirements.
    • Submissions need to be as close to 3500 pixels wide and 2300 pixels tall as you can get. That requirement will exclude some older cameras and cell phone pictures. But, as always, I plan to print them at 17x11 so we need hi-res - 640x480 just won't cut it and won't look good when blown up.
    • The submission can't be highly compressed. If your picture is a jpg and it's less than 500k, please just find another - we won't be able to even consider it.
    • Submitted images must be wider than they are tall.
    • Submitted images can not have other text on them such as the date the image was taken.

First here is the blank template from Cafepress that shows how the image should be positioned and what size it needs to be.

The next four images show what the calendar page would look like with some of the images that have been submitted.

As I am sure everyone will agree these will not make images that will make a good calendar. We all want a good looking calendar so please make sure to follow the submission guidelines.

Exactly. I hope this will cause people to put a bit more effort into the images they submit.
