it's something like 80% of suicides are by men and it goes up around ages 50-60 or something like that. I'd look it up but the way things have been at work lately I don't want to raise any red flags.![]()

I may be alone on this, but I don't think the problem is temporary. To me, the problem is the US of A, and where it's headed--and that's not a temporary thing. And, despite all the wonderful things elsewhere in the world, it's not going to get much better anywhere else.
could be a little more vague but not much.
What I'm saying is, depression--as it exists for me personally--is a function of what I see in my environment. It's less of a "woe is me" thing...than it is a "HTF did everything in the world get so WTF?" At a certain point, it breaches annoying, passes frustrating and proceeds directly into horribly depressing. That is the end culmination of seeing remarkably unqualified individuals with little/no redeeming personal characteristics...achieve success ahead of (or in spite of) peers who are unilaterally more deserving and qualified.
I could opine on any of a half dozen different topics that all point to one depressing conclusion--but it's irrelevant to the idea. The gist is that while it is sad that some people can't see past "personal" problems, I--conversely--completely understand people who literally mean they don't want to live on this planet anymore.
This is much closer to disgust, than depression.
This is empathy.
Overall, it's quite unclear how/why you're attempting to daisy chain these opinions as relevant to this thread. There's a substantial difference in depressing and (clinical) depression.
Jeremy
Unless you WERE some other, depressed individual, you can't know the reasons behind said depression 100% factually. While there may be a difference, as you pointed out, it can be one of the factors that keeps said individual's "picture" painted bleakly.
As a for-instance, minor shit that's broken/malfunctioning on my car (like a sticky switch or something) doesn't bother me too much when the car is up and running fine. When the car is kaputt, that shit REALLY bothers me, and holistically makes me contemplate the value in keeping the car around.
That is NOT (clinical) depression.
Depression (major depression) Definition - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic
.Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depression, major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and depression may make you feel as if life isn't worth living.
More than just a bout of the blues, depression isn't a weakness, nor is it something that you can simply "snap out" of. Depression may require long-term treatment
Jeremy
Someone can suffer from chronic depression without actually having "clinical" depression--but that's splitting hairs.
I do believe that environment can exacerbate a situation. I'm sure having his show cancelled didn't help.
