Bob, I hope you don't feel this derails your thread, but I've created an excel sheet and ran some data for various pipe sizes, according to Corky Bell's formula for velocity in an intercooler pipe.
Let's assume 1.5 CFM per horsepower.
According to Mr. Bell it is not good to exceed 450 ft/s as that would incur substantive losses (exponential). Each calculation is based on a turbo taking half the load.
Please draw your own conclusions. Keep in mind even the "2.0" kits are really smaller inside diameter than that in some cases, they have smaller sections to connect to the turbocharger and intercoolers, and bends all contribute to losses.
Also, you can't view this as if the smallest section of your piping is what the overall result is based on because they are just losses, the length of the piping in that size will cause the losses to stack, so a short smaller piece will not be devastating to flow, or we'd all be screwed because of how small the turbo outlet is.
