Thoughts on where spool would be on the greens?

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

I'd guess around 5500-6000 rpm for 30's boost with decent sized cams on a 3.0. It's 900awhp+ worth of turbo potential though if wrung out. (108lb/min which is about the same as a GTX4202 that Trevor ran on a 3.7)
    1992 Kilder Green VR4 - First 4G swap in a 3S. 2.0, auto, awd. 9.65 at 143mph. Now LS swapped. 8.52 at 162.

Thought we already had this discussion Eric :P If and when I want more than the 14Bs, the Greens will likely be the next step.

Yeah, I am leaning towards just doing the billet 16G wheel for now, they claim it has 15% more flow just from the design of the blades and it adds a little height. Only thing I need to worry about for now is mounting and balancing the wheel, no machine work otherwise. And having a bonus of shaving a few rpms off spool times would be nice, but as is not bad anyways, I was getting full spool at about 3800 on the 3sx headers.

I have never been wild about the small flanged outlet of the 16G compressor housing though, I will see how much clearance there really is in there, no sense in having a turbo housing touching the firewall but a redesigned cover would be nice.

They have not gotten back to me on the actual outside dimension of their 3" covers...if its only marginally wider I might try it, easy enough to swap.

Greens are a BIG step up from 14bs. Evo3s would be a great option if your goals go above 600awhp. Twin 14bs are 60-64lb/min depending on who you believe. Twin greens are rated at 108.

    You will not gain spool.

30+psi by 3800? On your current setup?

I haven't pushed them that hard but 20 psi by 3800 yes. Should spool faster from the weight savings...

Stage 3 heads make a big diff..I'm decked slightly too so I I'm probably closer to 9:1 compression

Compression doesn't help spool. Only makes more power everywhere.

Why don't you run them as they are meant to be at 30ish psi before upgrading? You are leaving 100-150hp+ on the table right now.

Take accurate logs on same road at same air temp, before and after. Bet they won't spool faster.

Just crank up the boost now! If you are only planning on 20psi and expect 700hp you are going to need something much different than td05s. You already have 700+ worth of turbo. One evo3 put down 400+ all day on a 4g. Most is 499 but that was all out effort.

There's no cranking the boost yet..engine is on the stand..that's why I'm doing upgrades now. It's just easier to do it off the bat...not that it's particularly hard to remove while in the car but I'm already in upgrade mode.

Logically if the comp wheel is lighter than the stock evo wheel it should gain at least some spool time.

    And not to mention inexpensive...

BILLET Turbocharger compressor Wheel MHI BIG 16G EVO 3 - XS Boost Turbochargers

Even better deal...I'm assuming they probably come from the same source. I'm going to order from one or the other after I ask then a few questions. I may just send them in and let them do the mounting and balance.

Then in a few months we can see what they can do....realisticly it will be at least fall if not next spring by the time it sees dyno time or track time. Should be fun!

The thing with a lot of turbo builders and their upgrades are shrouded in mystery...as you can see the parts needed to upgrade an existing healthy set of td05 is not that expensive. Aside from if your turbo needs a whole rebuild (mine do not)...I don't see the sense in overspending...your paying for a pretty healthy markup ontop of the actual cost of labor and parts...
