just checked again its .040 not .042, but still wider than .25 by a boatload. i may gap lower if i go higher on boost, but in that scenario just get the msd coils and wires and keep the gap wider...

going to island dragway in about an hour, hope to have some nice numbers. im not planning on hard launching everytime, for crazy 60' times, but id love to see my trap speeds and maybe give her one or two launches near the end of day

they wouldnt let me run since i didnt have a fire jacket and seatbelt mounting points need to be changed. and on the ride home, got another vac leak somewhere under the throttle body.

was a fun day and track is very secluded. the drive there and back was nice. was only about 120 people there and maybe 50-60 cars running, lotta cars parked by 2pm. good spicy sausage and fries

Yeah, I made the same mistake of telling them I had aftermarket turbos Seatbelt mounting points? Did you move your stock seatbelts?

I have sparco I harnesses. The top is mounted at the stock rear seatbelt top mount point. Near the quarter glass. He said it's too far and the stretch they give is about 2" per foot. I jus need to put the stock belts back in. Found a sick looking race/fire jacket for $60. I'll be back there in 2 weeks.

so i decided to try a lower gap, just to see the difference....

    i went from .040 to .032

i was not able to boost over 14ish psi before what i thought was going too rich and flooding out.

apparently, it had spark blow out, without ANY other changes, max boost jumped to about 18.5 psi and the car sounds completely different. i lost a lot of low end torque, but the top end is insane now...

so now this brings a new question to my head....how do u find the best gap? and how much power do you lose at a lower gap?

lol...you really need to do some reading and figure out the basics before talking about upping the boost and upgrading turbos....

NGK coppers...r5611a gapped at .25 with NGK wires should be a start. Boost leak your car to make sure you have no leaks. Make sure your fuel trims are all as close to 0 as possible. Log your car to make sure you don't have knock. Start from there...

trust me i am reading a shit ton...

so i have msd 8.5 wires, stock coils and autolite plugs at .032

i have a logger set up and its not knocking.

i have only been able to work on the car here and there, which is why the posts are so far apart.. everytime im getting progress though

my question is how do you know to go up or down on the gap?

The goal is to have as much gap as possible, and not get blow out. Not an answer that is applicable to every car.
