Bitching about a 4g in a 3000GT

I also noticed that Erron notes his tech/race weight at 3450 on the bottom of his garage page.

Scott @ Izzy's weighed mine at 3340 with the cage, and he estimated the tubing adds up to ~145. So ~3200.


here's a list of mods that I haven't done:
window+motor delete (24lb / side)
carbon doors (30lb / side)
steel->carbon hatch (18 lbs)
rear glass-> lexan (12 lbs)
front glass-> lexan (12 lbs)
rear tubular crash bar (5 lbs)
fuel cell (10? lbs)

Other than that, I think I've got pretty much everything deleted/replaced, except for custom suspension arms or subframes.

3200-24-24-30-30-18-12-12-5-10= 3035 without a holesaw or a welder. Also still have most of the stock wiring.


I'm pretty sure jfast is under 3000 with his mods, but i'm pretty sure he's got custom subframe/suspension stuff. Alison is also under 3000 but I know she went holesaw-crazy.

Based on your numbers Pete that would suggest that Erron's weight did include the driver.

I have not seen Adam's car in person so I can't comment on its contents. However if Pete's car weighs ~3200lbs without the cage, and his numbers make sense with Erron's, I don't see how Adam's car would only weigh ~50lbs more and be considered 'far from gutted'.

I guess this is just one more point to support the idea that race scales don't agree with track scales or CAT certified scales.

I never really weighed anything when I took it off.

Just remembered one more mod I haven't done.
Power steering delete (front pump and manual front rack) = 20 lbs according to JonW.

Car was weighed with only driver seat (sparco side mount) and no wing, so that's already accounted for.

so 3035-20 = 3015

I would say 3000 lbs is the absolute lowest you can go without cutting the frame in any way.

Are you running a rear crash bar still?

Weighed mine at a scrap yard a few months ago...

Full tank e85-128lbs (19.8 gallon tank + 6.5lb/gallon of fuel)
Driver-153lbs
Spare/Jack-30lbs
Misc crap in car...laptop/screws/glovebox-10lbs

So with a few gallons of gas with no driver dry weight is right at 3640.

That number was achieved by deleting emissions, cruise, washer tank(front), abs, aws reservoir and lines running to pump in back(pump and lines to rack still there), LW flywheel, full exhaust...

Recently I installed seats(40lb savings), hood(30lb savings) and wheels(maybe 5lb total) and pulled all the crap out of the car(spare is still there). Still want to delete airbags/ecu, tow hooks and complete AWS delete and that should be it(40lbs maybe) Going to try to go in the next two weeks to get it weighed again but this time with only a 1/4 tank of gas@ race weight...

Really want to hit 34XX lbs..

Are you running a rear crash bar still?

Yeah, still got the stock aluminum. I got that 5lb tubular bar weight savings from jackhammer's thread from a few years back.

I guess running open o2 housings would save another 40 lbs. So there's 3015 - 40 = 2975.

I'll reweigh my car this weekend. The lightest it has ever been was 3056 without me and fuel, so 3491 race weight. I should go on a diet.

Also, going to see about renting certified test weights to test my race scales. Note when using truck scales, as they are certified to a percentage of capacity or scale, so at low weights the error is higher. They are designed to be accurate to something like .1% at 80K lbs, which is quite the margin at 3K lbs.

And I weighed my car using my Xbox 360 and it came out to 3200lbs with full interior, so I can clearly get sub 3000. Plus, mine's a stealth.
