With a manual, you lose less power through the trans. But with the auto you're never out of power. If you add up shifts, and respool, there is about a full second of a 1/4 mile pass where you are coasting in a manual car. I'd rather make 50 less horsepower to the wheels, but have it all the way down the track. Not to mention more consistency for money races. Who want to lose cash because they were blocked out of second at 8500 rpms?

Or if you inadvertently twitch and bang into the wrong gear. Factoring in the cost of a rebuilt engine...ATX is WAY cheaper.

I think this is a great idea and I really want to do it... Just not in my white car

I just can't believe how simple the swap is! That car is going to be so much fun.

Turbo swaps are fun even when it's difficult... It looks like you can swap a turbo in an hour now.

I think it's hilarious that guys with 8:1, 3-liters are questioning the low rpm torque of a ~9:1, 2.4-liter. Neither has any low rpm torque unless you're using tiny turbos.

In my mind, this is a truly elegant solution combining the 2 best things mitsubishi ever did. Amazing bang for the buck power and reliable racing potential in a beautiful package.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention the rather significant benefit of getting as many DSM parts onto the car as possible. Trustworthy 3S parts are going to become very expensive and/or hard to find way before DSM parts will be.

We need more, HIGHER RES pictures... I want to see the interior too

When I build, I may even go 10:1. Manley has off the shelf long rod h-beams and offset pin height pistons in two compression ratios. K1 and Manley have billet cranks with various strokes at only $1300-1600. Eagle and Manley have regular forged cranks at only $6-700 but that's not an option I'm considering. Stock forged or billet for me.

If I do high res, you'll see how dirty the car is now!!

I love the interior. Swapped from beige leather to charcoal cloth. Removed sound deadening under driver side to test. Will do pass side also. Carpet does a good job killing the road noise. Drove it with no carpet and I didn't like it.

$70 eBay 3" downpipe fits. It's actually really solid. Seems much better than the 3sx td05 downpipe. I have to add a 3"-4" expander and a 4" vband plus approx 6" to mate to my aluminum exhaust but I'm happy!

Any ideas on how to get my tach to read correctly? AEM is correct. Do I just need to swap in a DSM tach? Anybody compare the connections before?
