    4G swap in a 3000gt?

Just the shortblock or longblock? I assume longblock. If so, very similar to what I was thinking. The weight savings is in the head. Plus a turbo and mani.

He tried to ship UPS and was told it was over their 150 limit with crank rods and pistons in it. Rough guess the block weighed around 90-100 pounds and the crank was probably 30 or more. Pistons and rods aren't significant on their own, but still added up. By the time he wrapped it all up it was over the limit.

I still don't understand what you are comparing? Shortblock or longblock weighed 150? If just the shortblock is 25lbs lighter I saved a bunch of weight when you add head and turbo.

I shipped a 4g63 shortblock a couple weeks ago. It was about 140lbs, including a Rubbermaid tub, engine bag, and about 6 cans of spray insulation.

Sorry, was referring to shortblock. A fully assembled 4g long block is near 250-300 IIRC.

You probably cut at least 70 pounds out of it with that. Enough at least to make up for your heavy ass auto

everyone seems to think about the weight and the loss of a few HP at the top end. no one seems to remember the shift speed & the torque multiplication off the line....

^QFT. Shifts are amazing with the shift kit and shift box. Also, tq converters are magic, I had basically no lag with the auto, td05s and 280 cams. It just blows right through the dead zone to happy zone!

Also, I did a compression test yesterday in about 3 mins. No need to remove damn intake mani! All is good BTW. Numbers were a little lower than I expected but I forgot to prop open the throttle plate since the mani is usually off to do this in a 3S. Even across the board at 180ish.

This is awesome. I don't know what else to say other than I can't wait to see some numbers.

Neat! Never looked into any ATX mods but that's something cool to play with.

So now does the hood fit with the timing cover on?
