    4G swap in a 3000gt?

I also wouldn't expect this car top go as fast as sub 2000lbs dsms though. It still sould weight in the 3200-3300lbs if not more. 4g63 is just a bit lighter than 6g72. You probably wouldn't notice a lack of tq since it's an auto. do the auto trans have same casting on GTO and DSMs? maybe GTO trans have stronger case and transfer case?
I'm done discussing whether you think the engine will sound right.

Internals are the same. Auto trans cases don't break. Tcase tail shaft can but there is an upgrade. 95-96 DSM Tcase is same as 94+ 6g jdm auto Tcase.

Edit: of course it won't be as fast as a car that is lighter. Who said it would be?

I know internal are same but how about the casting? I guess there is only way to find out.

The castings can't be the same. Different "bellhousing" which is built into the casting. I have both in my garage. They are the same trans. Not sure what you are questioning. You don't split an auto trans case from too much power. It doesn't load the case like a manual.

    Tcases are identical.

I figured it was a matter of time. 4g63's are considered to be godly & 6g72's are considered to be piss (at least by everyone outside of mitsubishi fans). I prefer having 3.5L (at least when it's done *crosses fingers*) but I can totally understand the draw of the 4G.

Pics of the new shoes. Needs more low. I run very little camber in rear and as much as stock camber bolts will get me up front.

Timing belt is soaked in oil. Sneak peek of motor mount. It's just raw steel there. I'll get them powdercoated flat black when I pull it all apart again.

Little bit of room for a bigger turbo. Also you can see a stock 3S alternator mounted up. I TIG'd on a new mount and spaced it to line up. DSM alternators are crap. They commonly swap to saturn alts but the 3S is even more amps.

Kept it pretty low. Still need to try the hood but I think it will fit (hope!).

We're you able to push it back as far as possible? Better weight distribution.

I have the crank centerline at the same spot as the 6g crank centerline. That way my front CV axles are at the same basic location as well as tcase and I could use the 6g trans mount. Tilting it rearward would help weight distribution, but it would mess up the tcase angle. I tilted it forward to align tcase with driveshaft and to dip the front cam gear down. Angle should be about what a stock dsm is.

Weight distribution is already helped. One less head (~30lbs), one less turbo/mani (~20lbs), less exhaust piping, two less pistons, block slightly less. Cranks weigh about the same. Trans is the same. I might gain some of that weight back when I hang a 40lb turbo up front
