You guys got through that conversation without mentioning Vince Young...
Ranked No. #1 in initial quality

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

I try to avoid thinking about VY and the debacle with the Titans. I'm still not sure if Fisher just refused to adapt his schemes to the QB that the team drafted (against his will), or if VY wouldn't have made it regardless. I mean, VY did win roughly 60% of his games a Titan. And only started what, 2 games as an Eagle?

Variety of other issues there, but if you won 60% of your games, that means that most years that's good enough for a wild card spot or a division crown (unless...you know..you play in the same division as the Colts.)

I just don't think YV was cut out for pro ball, or just wasn't smart enough. Fisher is looking pretty damn good now after the last few years of watching the Titans.

Well, once you've been branded a head-case - as a quarterback, at any rate - I'd think you'd need to win the frigging Super Bowl to offset that.

Vince = a sad case, frankly.

Idk about that, look at the Rams the last few years. Historically speaking, outside of a couple really good years with Eddie George and Steve McNair, Fishers best years were with VY at the helm. Titans have gone downhill since, but Rams haven't exactly been stellar either. His career record is somewhere around 50% isn't it?

Indeed, had high hopes for him, but alas..

Fisher can't properly evaluate/use talent. Round 1 pick of Tavon Austin...nope we're not gonna use him. Huge draft steal in Stedman Bailey...fuck him too. Sam Bradford...2nd coming of Christ, even if it is only for 1.28 games per year. Fisher sucks.

    Yup.

Fisher got tremendous mileage out of a Super Bowl loss, didn't he?

If VY is going to be considered a quality QB saddled with a sub-par team...then the same holds true for David Carr.

I don't know I'd say quality, I'd say he was about average. With him there, Tennessee won at a clip closer to when they had Steve McNair and Eddie George still playing in good, non injured form. They just never took that next step while he was there. Bearing in mind that their best season was with Kerry Collins at the helm, and that with VY as a starter they were about 50-55% record and coach Fisher's record is around the same percentage..Honestly, I feel like either Fisher is grossly overrated, or VY is underrated (not because he's great, but because he is statistically about average and he is frequently considered a bust.)

For the David Carr argument, I think he is also in the same situation. Houston never made the kind of commitment to their O-line that they needed to, and never had any real weapons for him. Texans gave up the most sacks in the league for what, all but one year that he was there?

If Fisher is over-rated (and I'm neutral on that), then Gruden (jon) is EXTREMELY over-rated.
