Classified Verification Overkill

There were members on 3si who had several thousand posts and never ripped anyone off either, then one day got desperate and took people for thousands. With no verification process then there is no help that can be given from the forum.

Alan already noted all he cares about is the address. You can black out all pertinent info. He also stated if you dont want it posted (even though its hidden) to just PM him the info.

OK several things to address.

I was away today more than I planned. The growth of this site has outperformed expectations by and incredible factor. I told Lori at one point that I I had 100 member in 6 months I'd consider the site a success. At this rate we will his 1000 tomorrow. I was not prepared for this kind of response and I'm scrambling to catchup. Please bear with me as I get through this. Their will be more mods here so we don't have long lags like today.

Starting tonight here is my plan for the images. When I review your thread I will print the page and file the hard copy. I will then delete/remove the images from the thread. This way If their is ever an issue its on file but its not online. Is this acceptable?

Solution Idea:

Alan, do you have a fax machine? I would rather send my information via fax to you. In this procedure, you can save the faxes in file and the need for a online transaction wont be necessary and reduce the fear of hacking .

Thats an acceptable compromise to me Alan.

It is funny that there is such an outcry. There was a similar outcry when 3si started their verification process. While it wasn't bulletproof it helped some people get information on "bad sellers"

And on the notion of more mods, I would gladly help in that department if you would consider it Alan. As you may remember I moderate on AutomotiveForums, and am the 3spa moderator as well. I don't expect an answer any time soon, or even at all, I just thought I would throw the offer out there.

Can someone please tell me what deterrent there is with this verification? I'm trying to understand how you having my address does anything to deter me from scamming?
