What's the purpose of the drivers license? As a member mentioned, some DLs have old addresses on it. Can we eliminate the whole DL since a bill with your name and address really serves the purpose of a DL?

OK after reading both threads and looking at the poll many want the verification and just as many seem totally opposed so how can I setup a system to take care of both groups.


I think I have a compromise. (some posted the seed for the idea I just can't find that post)

keep the current verification system but have a system that will let people that just provide name/address to get access to the classifieds. These people would have an icon indicating that they are have not been verified. This puts the decision in the buyers hands.

What do you say?

I haven't got a paper bill in years. My credit card bills, utilities, phone, bank statement, etc, all come online. 95% of my postal mail is junkmail.

I think he just needs a piece of mail with the address. I sent a photo of my Emissions Notice.

If possible I just want two things with name and address. In the electronic age that may not be possible.

Why not paypal verification? It takes too long and the point is address verification. It does not get us contact information.

Takes too long is fine with me. I'd rather it take longer than to post my documents on a forum. PayPal has address confirmation.

How about we grandfather in those who were verified on 3si? That would solve it for a lot of us here.

I'd like to be grandfathered in but I don't think that's possible as only 3si has that information, not Alan. I also like the idea of either emailing it directly to a email address or faxing it, this way no information is stored on the server.

The problem with grandfathering in people from 3si, first and foremost is this is NOT 3si, so that should have no correlation with it. Thats like saying I want my Ebay feedback put on here. Would it be nice? Sure, I had 100% feedback from 36 transactions on 3si and 100% feedback from 180 transactions on ebay...

I think that in recent times 3si was pretty much verifying anyone and we already know they were letting scammers sign back on so who knows if they let them become verified again.

Paypal verification makes two withdrawls in the persons bank acct. The person then has to see what the amounts were and type those in on paypal to become verified. Also I think if ups has delivered to your address it shows it as a valid address.
