    Keyless entry issues: tough challenge

Alright so I'm having odd issues programming the new keyless remote for my 99. Got to the point where I got Todd involved with his 98 to try and figure it out.

He & I both bought new remotes for our cars. They both are the correct remotes according to all the research we did.

So we have 2 of these brand new remotes. Todd has an original for his 98 that works.

To program these you ground pin 1 of the OBD2 connector with all doors shut, turn the key to acc then off. The doors lock and unluck to signal the ECU has entered programming mode. You then press the lock button on the remote 3x. The doors lock and unlock again to signal the remote is programmed. Then you unground the pin, turn the ignition on/off and open the door.

Now when programming BOTH new remotes in BOTH Todd's 98 and my 99 the signal for the successful programming happens, but the remotes don't do anything.

Todd's original 98 VR4 remote programmed successfully in just his car only but the new ones don't.

What am I doing wrong or what could the issue be? Yes the batteries are good in all the remotes. They light up when the buttons are pressed.

    Completely stumped.....

Have you checked the flux capacitor?

Found this link. It says you press the remote lock button 2 times, not 3 within 10 seconds.

Also wondering if you have to clear the receiving unit memory somehow since it can remember a maximum of two remotes

You press it 1x followed by 2x fast to get the receiver to acknowledge the remote. It does this by locking/unlocking the doors after the 3rd button press. Both new remotes do this in both cars.

However, after that, the receivers in both cars seem to ignore the remotes.

Does it matter than under OMRON on the receiver it reads G8D-492M-B and the remote is G8D-494M-A?
Your 1993 Dodge Stealth is one of 6351 that received VIN numbers. Based on the order of the serial numbers, your car was the 5212nd out of the 6351 that were made that year.
Your car was built in the 3rd week of February 1993. Of the 47380 vehicles made at the Nayoga plant, your car was the 40537th vehicle to be created that year.
There are 281 other cars that were made with both the same interior and exterior color. There are 779 cars with the same exterior color and 2316 cars with the same interior color.
Note: The production order is assigned based on the order of the serial number.

I was going to say double check that you have the correct remote. If that checks out, try removing the ground pin after you have turned on the ignition/opened the door. It doesn't say to unground in the manual so maybe that is throwing it off. Long shot but worth a try.

I had to do something similar for the remote in my Forester and it was a PITA. Literally took me 20 times to do the lock/unlock sequence correctly.

FCC ID should be different. It describes the frequency and modulation of the transmitter. The remote and base unit have to use different frequencies so they have different FCC IDs.
