These are a niche car, and everybody that wants one already has one, for the most part.
The largest issue I see with the value of these cars is the fact that most 3s's produced were non turbo fwd.

Em and I have already talked about expanding to other platforms and we've already moved forward on doing so. The days of seeing one of these cars come in for a 5 figure build is almost to an end.
We had someone come look at the spyder yesterday and he knows the value in the car. He really is trying to convince me NOT to sell it because he thinks I will regret it later. Unfortunately, it's not great to try to haul Otto around in, and we have plenty of these things. At this rate, we'll pick up another spyder for $600 in a few years![]()
Yo GZP...hit me up on a price for a FG Victory hood...I'll spend money...
Yep..sad market for 3000GT's. Great looking cars...always has been the bastard child though..looks like it will never change.
Also for the record...F&F has/never had anything to do with the values of the 3/s...
Your last sentence contradicts your point. Seriously, when I see a BURNED TO A CRISP MKIV Supra selling for $15,000....THAT says that F&F played a huge role. I don't see why everyone denies it. Value on FD3S, MKIV & R32-34 has been fairly high. Z32 & Z15/16/11 prices have plummeted.
I've known that I'll never get my $$$ out of my 3/s. That's one of the reasons why I'm so torn about trying to finish my project. Sad thing is, if the 3/s was extinct, there wouldn't be any AWD-TT hatchback coupes. The 3/s was unique in that regard...and the world has turned a blind eye.
I stand by my statement...
F&F didnt do anything for EVO's...didnt do a godamned thing to the 3g POS Eclipses..both of which were the feature cars of the second iteration of the movie. EVO's still hold value pretty well but that's because they are performance powerhouses...never had anything to do with the movie franchise.
The reason Supras fetch top dollar is because they are made by Toyota and secondly they have a legendary near bulletproof engine/drivetrain setup.
Anytime I see a 3/s owner complain about F&F is the reason why the Supra is overpriced and why the 3/s isn't...I see a deluded wannabe 3s owner...no offense...![]()
The problem is NOT that our cars were not popular when new, the problem was that they were too popular while in production.
The 3000GT outlasted the others in the US, so now there is a higher supply of them.
In '96 Toyota was selling a brand new Supra TT for mid $30K and having PROBLEMS selling them. On the other side at Mitsu, they were selling the Spyder VR-4s, MSRP in the $60ks but with dealer mark ups many selling in the $70K price range!
Our platform was very popular, and the base model sales helped a lot with keeping the platform alive by moving those lower priced inventory models.
The abundance of Base models with the longer production time makes our current resale values as low as they are.
It all boils down to supply and demand.
For the 4th gen turboed Supra there were only ~ 6,977 sold, with 11,239 for the total run.
For the Turbo 3S there were ~26,067, with ~151,454 for the total run.
Look at the other high production run cars of our cars generation, Mustangs, Vettes, 300ZX, Camaro etc. They are all similarly low price market like the 3S.

Yep, selling for less than what I have invested into it, not counting the car itself. Still not sold...
The most morbidly hilarious thing about the 3/s value is spyders. For such a pitifully low total production run, they have piss for value. Not that rarity is everything (you don't see Yugo's selling and even if they were, they'd still be POS), but I have a hard time understanding all the other "limited edition" models of cars being put out in FAR greater quantities & still clinging to the resale value.
I just got a first Gen TT stealth . 100k miles and only car I found where it didn't look like rats ate the front seats ... As far as vale goes .. Common people see it as 20 years old , shit load of hoses and sensors , 120-200k miles and most motors need or will very soon need rebuilt $$$$$.
The paint usually needs tending and redone .. So most are looking at a resto car job .. It's hard to buy a 2500-7k car and know it will need all that done and more .. And if you wanna play with it it's more to beef up things or get to 400awhp so you don't get blown away by a new Accord ..
Sucks I know but I'm have to do a resto on my TT and will be a good 8k at lest . That way I can drive it without worrying about what part is going out next .. But I bought it cause I always wanted one
