    Kickstarter Open ECU (rusEfi)

Not sure if I should have posted this here or in Worksafe Discussions, but thought this was a neat project.

Honestly I don't know. I was unaware of megasquirt, until I read the FAQ on that kickstarter page. It could be a copy cat type thing, but according to them...

Isn't Megasquirt already offering open source customizable ECU's?
No, Megasquirt is offering a closed-source customizable ECU. I believe MS used to be 'open source but not free' (their license requires use of their authentic hardware). People were confusing 'open' for 'free' so MS had to switch to closed-source. rusEfi is a GPL open-source

That's going to be the only real difference... rusEFI has been around in various development states for a while, I was tempted to put one together and try it out on a lawnmower engine for shits and giggles.

Megasquirt is a great proven proprietary product which has it's limitations, rusEfi is a free open source ECU in an alpha version phase of the development.

Right now we are getting closer to a Miata plug & play block - there is a prototype but still need to tune the car and probably implement some of the features, this currently looks like this:

What is cool is that we like the same 64 pin connector which at least some 3000gt have used, so a board with a stock connector should be possible. The pinout is different so it would look more like

I'll go get a stock 3000gt ECU for my collection so that I can maybe stimulate it on a bench and convince one of you guys to play with all this

You would be using TunerStudio to configure rusEfi - that's the same 3rd party software to control a number of different controllers, we also have our own console which is mostly used for troubleshooting.

Probably a long ways to go on this project since the ECU would need to accomodate all of the different types of computer systems for each type of vehicle. The Megasquirt at least uses similar sensors as stock sensors, but reduces the harness down to a handful of wires. Interested to see where this goes. I have a Megasquirt ECU currently.
Your 1993 Dodge Stealth is one of 6351 that received VIN numbers. Based on the order of the serial numbers, your car was the 5212nd out of the 6351 that were made that year.
Your car was built in the 3rd week of February 1993. Of the 47380 vehicles made at the Nayoga plant, your car was the 40537th vehicle to be created that year.
There are 281 other cars that were made with both the same interior and exterior color. There are 779 cars with the same exterior color and 2316 cars with the same interior color.
Note: The production order is assigned based on the order of the serial number.

Not sure I follow. That makes all the standalone systems - rusEfi included - possible is that the variation between the sensors is not that big. If you can specify the right parameters you can run a wide variety of engines with the same ECU firmware.

If you are referring to CAN/K-line etc, this stuff is not used between the ECU and the engine - this stuff is used to connect to the ECU, sometimes between ECU and another modules on the car. Transmission would probably the biggest issue - that's why the manual is proffered
